HEALTH & SAFETY RISK ASSESSMENT
The club members meet first Wednesday of each month at a local pub & hotel where the club uses the function room for lunch followed by a talk given by a chosen Speaker.
We are independent of all other activities within the pub/hotel.
Potential hazards:
Slips & falls; slippery, uneven floors, changes of level, obstructions, untidy cables & poor illumination.
Fire; both heat & electrical
Electric shock; faulty supply fittings, faulty electrical equipment.
All of the above are considered low risk.
The Chairman of the meeting shall be responsible for managing any emergency arising in the course of a meeting.
All persons attending the meeting shall be recorded in an attendance list by the secretary & be used to account for attendees in the event of an evacuation.
At the start of the meeting, the chair shall identify the Fire Escape routes from the meeting room & the Assembly Point where the roll call shall be taken by the secretary.
In the event of an evacuation, the chair shall report on the status of the roll call to the person in charge of the evacuation, who shall be an employee of the pub/hotel.
The speaker shall be responsible for supplying any display equipment or other prop required for their talk. The club Speaker Secretary shall, as far as he is able, visually inspect such equipment to ensure it is not damaged and is safe to use.
Where club members & guests are involved in club generated external social activities, the club social secretary shall, as far as he is able, determine the venue's health and safety measures and highlight potential hazards prior to the activity taking place & inform participating members.
